Time is critical and it ...Lots of this is spot on. Time is critical and it calls for critical measures. Everything begins with the rule of law. if you cannot get a fair hearing in the courts (and you absolutely cannot) in the end you can defend nothing. It makes you wonder if the damage being done daily to Ukraine would be lesser or greater by simply removing the whole prosecution service lock stock and barrel. All judges and prosecutors buy their places or are appointed as obedient servants by those that wish to subvert the court system. It's so bad that I can't help wonder if foreign judges should not be drafted in to sit on three-man panels next to national judges who simply cannot be trusted. Lots of foreigner civil servants may have to be given some key executive positions. I'm afraid that I really doubt the Ukrainians can sort this out from this starting point.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
